I left NASA, where I managed a five billion dollar budget, to sell cigars. Best decision I ever made.

I grew up in the Dominican Republic, tobacco country, and the idea of making my own cigar never left me. So in 2013, while still at NASA, I started Fratello. I worked four twelve-hour days to earn every Friday off, flew out Thursday night, sold cigars Friday and Saturday, and flew home Sunday. Almost four years of that. In 2016, I left NASA for good.

An old friend from my NASA days asked me to make a cigar for a moon mission his company was flying. He liked it enough to put our logo on the Odysseus lander. It landed on the moon on February 22, 2024, and it will be there for two billion years. The only cigar logo on the moon.
